In conjunction with the Rutgers 250th anniversary, the Department of Latino and Caribbean Studies and Department of History commemorate the Puerto Rican and Latino student activism of the 1970s that helped shape the university. Alumni from the era will share their memories and experiences, and Dr. Johanna Fernández (CUNY) will deliver a keynote talk on the 1970s, the Young Lords, and Puerto Rican activism. The event is free and open to the public, and portions will be live streamed. We’ll also enjoy Puerto Rican/Caribbean food and live music! Please register to assist with planning by sending an e-mail to latcar@rci.rutgers.edu with “Conference” in the subject line or visiting the Facebook event page.
