Bob Marley Symposium

The Americas Society will hold a “Symposium on Bob Marley and His Legacy” from November 16-18. Description from the website:

The symposium will address the life and work of Bob Marley—the musician, composer, Rastafarian, and world-culture icon. The event, which will bring together associates of Marley, poets, and musicians, will be comprised of an inaugural conversation between Chris Blackwell (founder, Island Records) and Christopher John Farley (Before the Legend) (November 16); a panel with scholars Robert Hill (UCLA) and Herbie Miller (Edna Manley College of the Visual & Performing Arts, Jamaica), and musician Ibo Cooper (Edna Manley College), moderated by Christopher Winks (Queens College, CUNY) (November 17); and a launch of Review 81 (Bob Marley and His Legacy, Fall 2010) (November 18), featuring guest editors Lorna Goodison (From Harvey River) and Christopher Winks (Queens College/CUNY) as well as poets/writers including Jacqueline Bishop, Kwame Dawes, and Shara McCallum.
