The Department of English at Medgar Evers College of the City University of New York invites applications for a full-time, Substitute Lecturer or Assistant Professor in African Diasporic
Literature for spring 2018. We seek a specialist in African diasporic literature whose primary
duties will include teaching undergraduate courses in literature and composition, advising and
mentoring students, and participating in committee work within the department.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate in English and have evidence of
scholarship and/or publications in African diaspora literature. If the terminal degree is not
completed and the candidate is enrolled in a PhD program, the candidate may be considered for a substitute lecturer.

We seek a candidate who will be able to teach and contribute their expertise to our emerging Literature of the African Diaspora program. The candidate should have evidence of strong teaching, a minimum of two years of teaching college literature, evidence of scholarly and
professional activities, and an ability to work effectively with others.

Candidates must have a commitment to the educational mission of Medgar Evers College.
