Katia D. Ulysse presents newest novel exploring the aftermath of the 2010 Haiti earthquake
Pushcart Prize-nominated author Katia D. Ulysse presents a powerful novel of personal and global tragedy, which dares to give voice to the victims of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. No one was prepared for the massive earthquake that struck Haiti, taking over a quarter-million lives, and leaving millions of others homeless. As one immigrant woman returns to Haiti to mourn the death of her parents and search for closure in the ruins, her husband, a combat veteran, cares for their three-year-old daughter as he fights his own battles with PTSD in the States.
Ulysse discusses her powerful novel of grief and migration at Greenlight Bookstore in Prospect Lefferts Gardens. Ulysse is joined in conversation with Ibi Zoboi, National Book Award finalist and author of American Street.
